I had the pleasure of designing this book recently (cover and interior) and am happy to report that it’s now available for sale. Kathryn James was a delight to work with and I’d like to give her book a little extra publicity.

Here’s the description from the back cover:

“From the magnificent palaces of the Romanov tsars to a small and romantic place by the sea, The Princess of Cannon Beach tells the story of a dynasty destroyed by revolution and the courage of one young woman in the aftermath of tragedy. Follow her transformational journey from the royal palaces of St. Petersburg, through Siberia, and across the Bering Sea to a new life in Astoria and Cannon Beach, Oregon.

Kathryn James creates a charming “what if” story that weaves fact with fiction around local historical reference points, and gives us the tale of a princess who was and a woman who might have been.”

You can purchase a copy on Amazon.

I thought I’d (shamelessly) share this Amazon.com review of Linda Lappin’s book “Katherine’s Wish.” Since I designed the cover for the book (published by Wordcraft of Oregon), I’m happy to accept this reviewer’s rather nice comments for all involved in its production.

***** A Masterpiece!, November 5, 2008
By Katherine Graham
One would not have believed it possible for any author to crystallize the essence of the ever-elusive and mystically-brilliant Katherine Mansfield into a wholly accurate account of her final days within the genre of literary fiction. Yet, Linda Lappin has done it with grace, style, elegance, rivetting prose (at times so gorgeously poetic it rivals the great writing of Mansfield herself). Indeed, the entire aesthetic of the book is a work of art - from the cover art, layout to the last page - all is so beautifully rendered. This book deserves recognition from the highest order from those with the clout to rank it among the best books written in 2008…or any time, readers are lucky enough to purchase a classic for all seasons. “Katherine’s Wish” for that stature of her life and work is most certainly granted here.

One of my favorite traditions around Christmas is to watch “It’s a Wonderful Life.” I’ve watched it at least once during the season for many years, and now that I’m married, my hubby not only puts up with it, he watches the film with me! (He’s so sweet, in fact, that he added a promise of the yearly viewing into our wedding vows!) Anyway, last night was this season’s viewing and I enjoyed it just as much as I always do. I also cried just as much as I always do… But a quick internet search afterward brought me to this little gem, and since I couldn’t stop laughing, I just had to pass it along. (Don’t miss the 3 bonus scenes at the end by clicking on the bunny silhouettes.) Enjoy!
